Royal's Page

I returned to Guide Dogs on January 5, 1997. After a couple of months it was determined that I would enter the breeding program along with two of my sisters "Regal" and "Randy". Click here to read a news paper article about me.

I went to live with a wonderful retired couple in Novato. I get to go swimming and go on lots of long walks along the bay. Life is pretty good.

On August 6, 1997 I was breed with a very handsome yellow lab by the name of "Truco". On September 30, 1997, I whelped 8 puppies. Five females (3 yellow, 2 black) and three males (2 yellow and 1 black). They have been named "Gala", "Granada", "Graphite", "Grenadine", "Gusset", "Grove", "Gable", and "Gleason". If you are raising one of my pups please keep me up to date on their progress. E-mail me at mjegus@serraschool.org

During the first of 1998, it was determined that I have a cataract in my right eye. At this time it is not affecting my vision, but Guide Dogs decided that I needed to be retired from their breeding program. This disease can be passed on to my offspring, they may develop cataracts or be a carrier. For this reason all my puppies will be neutered.

At Fun Day in San Rafael on August 7, 1998, several of the litter mates reunited. "Gable" also got to meet up with me the following day. We romped, played and had a great time!

On May 22, 1999, Grenadine and Gable graduated from the San Rafael campus. They have very important jobs to do now and I am very proud of them!
